Prime Minister Dahal reaches Balkot to meet UML Chair Oli



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has reached Balkot based residence of CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli to discuss the latest political developments along with the issue of the candidate for the post of President.

Prime Minister Dahal reached Balkot on Friday afternoon.

Earlier on Thursday, the chairman duo belonging to the ruling coalition had a private talk for more than two hours at the Prime Minister’s residence, in Baluwatar.

While the future president is being discussed from different angles, the two top leaders of the ruling party have been engaged in a long discussion of late.

The UML has been insisting on the execution of the agreement made by the top leaders of the coalition on December 25.

UML has been claiming that Maoist Center, along with other political parties in the ruling coalition, agreed to let UML get the post of the Speaker and the President. However, Maoist Center has been reiterating on the national consensus on the name of the President.

After the Nepali Congress (NC) also gave a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Dahal in the Parliament, the Maoist Center changed the tone and started emphasizing on national consensus.

According to the sources, the Maoist Center is going to decide to support the NC candidate for the presidency before February 25, the day of filing the presidential nomination.
