KATHMANDU: The government has publicly announced the list of sectors where strikes on services are prohibited.

In a notice published in the Gazette on Thursday, the Home Ministry identified various regions where strikes are prohibited as per the Essential Services Operation Act, 2014, Section 3(1).

The government has ordered the prohibition of strikes in essential services, including telephone services, postal services, governmental printing presses, banking services, electricity supply, and consular departments, along with internet services in the designated areas.

Additionally, the directive specifies that halting operations related to airfields, railway stations, and government warehouses for the storage, distribution, and dispatch of goods, production, storage, and distribution of military equipment or any defense-related services by the Nepal government is strictly prohibited.

As per the Gazette’s published information, strikes are not allowed in services related to postal and telephone communications, waterways for passenger or freight transport, airport maintenance and operations, internal security, and production, and distribution of military equipment.

Similarly, strikes are prohibited in sectors involving tourism accommodations, motels, hotels, restaurants, resorts, internal security, and the production and distribution of any military equipment.
