KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives meeting was adjourned on Sunday as Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers staged a protest.

During the meeting, the RSP lawmakers commenced their protest immediately after the presentation of the ‘Bill to amend Certain Nepal Acts, 2080’ by Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung.

Following the RSP’s demonstration, Speaker Devraj Ghimire granted RSP chief whip Santosh Pariyar an opportunity to speak.

Pariyar raised objections, stating that Speaker Ghimire had not presented the bill proposal for a decision. However, the Speaker attempted to justify his actions by referring to past practices. Nevertheless, the RSP lawmakers appeared unsatisfied with the response.

As the RSP lawmakers refused to take their seats, Speaker Ghimire allocated time to Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Ashok Kumar Rai to present the ‘Nepal University Bill, 2080,’ which originated in the National Assembly.

Despite these efforts, the RSP lawmakers continued their protest, surrounding the bell used to signal the meeting. Consequently, Speaker Ghimire postponed the meeting for a duration of 15 minutes.
