Construction of Gautam Buddha Int’l Cricket Stadium to resume soon

NARAYANGADH: The construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium which was halted due to various reasons would resume soon.

Construction of the Stadium was halted after the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation run by comedians Sitaram Kattel and Kunjana Ghimire withdrew their hands from the construction of the stadium citing the lack of budget.

Bharatpur Metropolitan City would complete the remaining works of the project, said Mayor Renu Dahal.

At a program organized on the occasion of the cleanup and tree sapling plantation on the banks of the Narayani River today, Mayor Dahal pledged to complete the project at any cost considering concerns and worries from the people about the project.

“We have been warned many times by the people. There are concerns and worries among people about it “, she said.
“The locals are also raising questions on the matter on social sites. I through this program want to tell that you rest assured the Gautam Buddha International Stadium will be constructed in our time”, shared Mayor Dahal.

She stated that a large amount of loan has to be paid to complete the construction of the stadium, and as there was no agreement that the government would pay the loan, she mentioned, adding, it has been difficult to advance the construction process.

Although the government had released Rs 120 million at the end of the previous fiscal year, 2022/23, the budget returned within one week and the budget would be re-released soon, she assured.

The Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor assured of forwarding construction works in phases as it requires millions of rupees and the metropolis cannot manage the budget at once.

Mayor Dahal informed that after going through various due processes to complete the project, the metropolis would soon advance the construction in partnership with the Bagmati province government.
