Speaker informs parliament about Top Bahadur Rayamajhi’s arrest



KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed the House of Representatives on Monday about the arrest of CPN-UML lawmaker Top Bahadur Rayamajhi.

The police gave official information to the parliament secretariat about the status of lawmaker Rayamajhi, who was arrested from his relative’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Sunday and revealed that he has been in the custody of the Sohrakhute police.

After this information, Speaker Ghimire informed the Parliament meeting that Rayamajhi was arrested on Monday.

With the Speaker’s formal announcement about Rayamajhi’s arrest, the lawmaker’s post become suspended.

He was on the run for 11 days after the arrest warrant was issued in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

Rayamaji was arrested only Sunday. The bench of Judge Keshav Prasad Adhikari of District Court Kathmandu has given today a 3-day remand to investigate on Rayamajhi.
