People will be able to vote from abroad: Prime Minister Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that arrangements will be made to allow Nepali citizens outside the country to vote from abroad.
Addressing a program organized virtually by the CPN-Maoist Center Diaspora Coordination Committee on Friday night, he said that such a provision will benefit millions of migrant Nepalis who have been deprived of voting in elections.
Stating that the government has been working to improve the foreign employment sector, he said that the government will do more for the sector. He also said that the participation of migrant Nepalis in the Social Security Fund is for the security of the workers.
Nepal Airlines refuses to recognize National Identity Card
The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has refused to recognize the most discussed National Identity Card (NIC) and barred Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice Chairman Dor Prasad (DP) Aryal from flying to India.
TIA source said that Aryal’s national identity card was not valid and the NAC at the Tribhuvan International Airport stopped him from boarding the plane.
Aryal was preparing to go to Bangalore, India by taking a corporate flight at 1:45 in the afternoon.
Top leaders of ruling coalition meet in Baluwatar to discuss cabinet expansion, by-elections
The top leaders of the ruling coalition met at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday morning to discuss the cabinet expansion and the April 23 by-elections.
According to Baluwatar sources, Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal met at Prime Minister Dahal’s residence today.
“The top leaders of the coalition discussed on various issues including forthcoming by-election and contemporary political issues among others,” said Prime Minister Dahal’s Secretariat.
Nepal sees 64 coronavirus cases in 24 hours, active cases 377
Nepal recorded 64 new cases of coronavirus and one COVID-related death in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.
Out of the confirmed cases, 21 were tested through the RT-PCR method and 43 through the Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 956 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
Out of them, 151 swabs were tested through the RT-PCR method and 805 through the Antigen method.
There are 377 active cases in Nepal as 45 infected patients recovered in the past 24 hours.
Police arrest Constable Pun for firing at Barshaman Pun’s mother
The police have arrested police assistant constable Prakash Pun Magar for allegedly firing at CPN-Maoist Center leader Barshaman Pun’s mother at her residence in Baluwatar.
Pun’s mother, 74-year-old Tirthamali Pun Magar, was shot at around 10 o’clock last night at her house in Baluwatar.
According to the police, the central spokesperson of the police, SSP Dipendra GC, Assistant Constable Pun was deployed at the protection of the Chief Justice and had joined the family gathering at leader Pun’s brother’s house after finishing his duty.
Gandaki CM Adhikari likely to step down on April 22
Gandaki Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari is preparing to step down on April 22 by convening a session of the State Assembly.
A meeting of the Gandaki State Assembly has been called on April 22 — the last day of the deadline for Adhikari — to take a vote of confidence within one month.
The Maoist Center withdrew support from the CPN-UML government after the presidential election changed the balance of power at the Center.
