Kedar Karki’s govt in Koshi Province is a coalition govt: PM Dahal
Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ announced that the ruling coalition has embraced Kedar Karki, a leader from the Nepali Congress (NC), as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province.
Speaking with reporters at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan on Saturday, PM Dahal affirmed that Karki, who secured the Chief Minister position with the backing of CPN-UML MPs, now represents the entire coalition.
He stated, “Now Karkiji has become the Chief Minister, and he is the Chief Minister of all of us. Therefore, the way that problem has been thought about and the way it has been discussed in the media has taken a safe course, now a safe landing has been made.”
Prime Minister Dahal, NC President Deuba, and Leader Shekhar Koirala sign crucial agreement
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba have inked a significant written agreement alongside NC leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala, solidifying their commitment to maintaining the ruling alliance despite changing circumstances in Koshi Province.
The trio’s agreement, forged on a Saturday morning, unequivocally asserts their collective resolve to ensure the steadfastness of the ruling coalition under all circumstances. Following this agreement, NC lawmaker Kedar Karki has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province.
Koshi Province Chief Parshuram Khapung formalized Karki’s appointment as Chief Minister on Saturday, following the signatures of 39 UML and 8 NC lawmakers who threw their support behind him.
Koshi Province NC dispute: Province PP leader Thapa resigns
Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader in Koshi Province Assembly Uddhav Thapa has tendered his resignation from his post.
Thapa’s decision to step down as the party leader was rooted in ethical considerations, following the appointment of Kedar Karki from the NC Shekhar Koirala faction as Chief Minister, a move that ran counter to the ruling coalition’s decision.
Despite the initial alliance’s endorsement of Indra Angbo, the leader of the CPN-Maoist Center, for the position of Chief Minister in Koshi, the Shekhar faction of NC rebelled and nominated Kedar Karki as the candidate for Chief Minister.
Digression from BP’s thoughts dents NC: Dr. Sashank Koirala
Nepali Congress leader Dr. Sashank Koirala has said NC is stronger than other parties due to its glorious history and ideology. However, digression from BP Koirala’s thoughts has dented the party much in recent times, he argued.
Addressing a greetings exchange program organized by the Nepal Student Union Lamjung-Kathmandu Contact Committee in the federal capital today, leader Koirala warned of fading BP’s thoughts in the NC.
Manang Air helicopter involved in minor accident while landing
A Manang Air helicopter, identified by the call sign 9N-ANJ, met with an incident earlier today.
Departing from Lukla in the morning, the helicopter encountered trouble during its landing at Lobuche.
Gyanendra Bhul, the information officer at the Civil Aviation Authority, said, “It’s not an accident. The helicopter that took off from Lukla at 7:13 in the morning overturned slightly while landing in Lobuche.”
World Bank positive to raise 130 billion concessional loan assistance in Upper Arun Hydropower Project
The World Bank is demonstrating a favorable stance in securing a concessional loan of NPR 130 billion for the Upper Arun Hydropower Project.
In the upcoming week, a high-level Nepali delegation will engage in discussions in Washington, addressing the technical and financial aspects of increasing the share of concessional loans from the World Bank and boosting private sector self-investment in the strategically crucial Upper Arun Hydropower Project.
Moreover, the World Bank has responded positively to Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat’s proposal to host the 21st replenishment meeting of the International Development Association (IDA) in Nepal.
During a review meeting with World Bank South Asia Vice President Martin Razor and Development Finance Vice President Akihiko Nisio on Saturday, Finance Minister Dr. Mahat presented the proposal.
During the discussion between Minister Mahat and the Vice President, an overview of the current project’s progress was conducted.
