KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) under the Nepal Police has unequivocally clarified that Dr. Ranjit Kumar Yadav, who was apprehended in connection with a counterfeit academic certificate issue, has been granted freedom subsequent to confirming his legitimate status as a medical professional.
Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari stated that Dr. Yadav has been released after verifying his medical credentials.
“We have discharged him due to the absence of substantiating evidence to implicate him as the actual offender,” he said.
In correspondence released by the CIB today, the Nepal Medical Council (NMC) communicated that Dr. Yadav had been erroneously suspected as an imposter medic. Consequently, he was released following the MMC’s explicit confirmation.
The statement read, “Based on the correspondence and other corroborating evidence, it has been ascertained that Dr. Ranjit Kumar Yadav is not implicated in the case. Thus, his detention for investigative purposes was deemed unnecessary, resulting in his release in the presence of concerned individuals.”
Dr. Yadav was apprehended on August 10 in Bhaktapur under suspicion of possessing a fraudulent educational certificate.
Earlier, lawmaker Sunil Sharma, who was also entangled in the same case, was released on a general date.
CIB has apprehended six other physicians in relation to the counterfeit certificates racket and is actively pursuing investigations.
