80% paddy plantation completed in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR: Around 80 percent of the paddy has been transplanted in Kanchanpur district as of the second week of July, according to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Kanchanpur.

Paddy seedling plantation got delayed this year due to lack of timely rain. “Paddy plantation is expected to complete within some days as monsoon rain is taking place now,” Information Officer of Centre Haridutta Joshi said.

Paddy plantation is done on 48,496 hectares of land in Belauri, Punarbas, Bhimdutta, Bedkot, Krishnapur, Shuklaphanta, Beldandi, Dodharachandani, Laljhani and other areas in the district.

Kanchanpur is an important district in Sudurpaschim Province for paddy production but the farmers are forced to depend on rainfall for a lack of irrigation facilities and timely supply of chemical fertilizer and seeds.
