Criminals should not be spared: Law Minister Gurung

CHITWAN: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung has directed the judicial committees to work in an efficient manner so that the general public does not suffer.

At an interaction organized by Bharatpur Metropolitan City on work execution of judicial committees, Minister Gurung urged the officials to ensure service delivery by keeping people’s interest at the top. The Ministry of Law is working to resolve the issues that could surface while working in the grassroots but the criminals should not spared, he added.

Saying that there are rumors on exemption to criminals sometimes in the name of reconciliation, Minister Gurung viewed that everyone is equal before the law.

On the occasion, he suggested that Bharatpur Metropolitan City should implement the decisions of its judicial committee, which he termed are praiseworthy.

Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal said that the judicial committee should be able to work for the interests of the citizens.

District judge Ritendra Thapa, Chairperson of Chitwan Bar Association Khagaraj Kandel and ward chairpersons also spoke at the event.

Deputy Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City and coordinator of judicial committee Chitra Sen Adhikari said that a total of 41 direct complaints have been received so far in the current fiscal year and of them 13 were settled through reconciliation process while others are being discussed for reconciliation.
