PM Dahal, UML Chair Oli discuss cabinet expansion even today

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Chairman of CPN-UML KP Oli discussed cabinet discussion today as well.

Prime Minister Dahal’s Secretariat said that UML Chairman Oli reached Prime Minister’s official residence on Saturday morning to discuss issues such as the expansion of the cabinet, and the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, among others.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives will be elected on January 19.

Clause (1) of Article 91 of the Constitution of Nepal stipulates that the members of the House of Representatives (HoR) must elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker from among themselves within 15 days from the date of commencement of the first meeting of the HoR.

On Monday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ got a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives.

Prime Minister Dahal has not been able to expand the cabinet even five days after getting the vote of confidence.

The Prime Minister has intensified discussions with the ruling partners on cabinet expansion.
