KATHMANDU: Dr. Shekhar Koirala, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), has advised fellow party leaders against speculating about the relationship between him and General Secretary Gagan Thapa.

Addressing a gathering of the party’s alternate group in Battisputali, Dr. Koirala emphasized that there were no disagreements between himself and Thapa. He urged fellow leaders not to engage in speculative discussions regarding their relationship.

One participant at the meeting stated, “Dr. Shekhar mentioned that there are no differences between him and General Secretary Thapa. We were advised not to speculate on their relationship.”

After Kedar Karki’s appointment as the Chief Minister with the support of the CPN-UML in the Koshi province, there were no discussions or consultations between Koirala and General Secretary Thapa.

Initially planned for Tuesday, the meeting of the NC’s alternate group convened by Dr. Koirala was postponed amid reports suggesting Thapa’s possible absence.

On Tuesday, Koirala and Thapa met at the residence of another leader, Arjun Narsingh KC, to bridge their differences. Subsequently, after discussions and sharing on Tuesday’s meeting, General Secretary Thapa participated in Dr. Koirala-convened meeting on Wednesday.
