Kathmandu Metropolitan City bans tobacco products starting today

KATHMANDU: In a significant move, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has prohibited the sale, purchase, storage, and use of tobacco products such as cigarettes and paan, particularly those wrapped in plastic pouches, effective from Wednesday.

The Health Department of the metropolis issued a notice on November 28 last month, underscoring the strict measures to curb the use of tobacco within its jurisdiction.

Individuals found in violation of these regulations will face legal consequences as warned by the local authorities.

This initiative aims to promote public health and reduce the negative impact of tobacco use within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
