NC’s Shekhar-Gagan faction holding ‘crucial meeting’ in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The Shekhar-Gagan faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) is holding what it said a “crucial” meeting at Battisputali in Kathmandu today afternoon.

The agenda for the meeting encompasses discussions on the party’s work performance committee meeting set for Friday, the Mahasamiti meeting slated for January 1 to 4, 2024, and deliberations on the upcoming National Assembly election.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has proposed a delay in the Mahasamiti meeting to February, citing heightened winter conditions and insufficient preparedness for both the National Assembly elections and internal organizational arrangements.

Additionally, reports suggest that various factions within the party will formulate their strategies today, addressing concerns related to alliances and internal divisions as the National Assembly elections approach in January next year.
