NC-UML lawmakers supporting Kedar Karki reach at Koshi Province Chief’s office



BIRATNAGAR: The Nepali Congress-CPN UML lawmakers approached the provincial chief demanding the appointment of Kedar Karki as the Koshi Province Chief Minister.

According to sources at the Koshi Province Chief’s Secretariat, the lawmakers reached at the Province Chief Parashuram Khapung’s office demanding Karki’s appointment as the chief minister of Koshi province.

They are demanding that Karki should be appointed as Chief Minister today as they have presented their claim to the province chief with the signatures of 47 lawmakers.

According to Article 168 (5) of the Constitution, the time given by the Province Chief Khapung to present the claim for the Chief Minister is ending at 5 pm on Friday.

Karki, who claimed the post of chief minister, informed that lawmakers supporting him arrived at the Province Chief’s Office, “We, the majority (47) lawmakers, have arrived at the head of the province’s office,” he said.

UML lawmaker Ekraj Karki confirmed that they (UML) lawmakers are ready to verify the signature.

“Kedar Karki should be appointed Chief Minister. We have 47 MPs,’ he said, ” We are ready to verify in person the signatures.”

Indra Angbo on behalf of the coalition ( Nepali- Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, CPN- Unified Socialist Party, Janata Samajbadi Party) has also presented a claim for the Chief Ministership.

As Angbo has also submitted the signatures of 47 MPs, the provincial chief is in legal consultation.

The support of 47 lawmakers is required to claim the government in the Koshi province.
