BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress (NC) Koshi Province is holding a meeting of its Work Performance Committee to deliberate on the recent upheaval following the rebellion led by Shekhar Koirala within the party.
The meeting has been aimed at formulating a stance on the unfolding situation within the province.
The meeting is likely to determine the party’s course of action.
Last Thursday, amid the ruling coalition’s decision to nominate Maoist leader Indra Angbo as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, 8 Congress MPs in Koshi, backed the nomination of Kedar Karki as the Chief Minister.
Both Angbo and Karki have submitted their claims to the post of the Chief, as stipulated by Article 168, Clause 5 of the Constitution, with the deadline set to conclude at 5 p.m. today by Province Chief Parshuram Khapung.
Under mounting pressure subsequent to the rebellion of the 8 party MPs, the Nepali Congress establishment has emphatically reiterated its stance, vowing that no defiance of party directives will be tolerated.
