Domestic, international flights impacted by inclement weather

KATHMANDU: The operation of both domestic and international flights has been hampered today due to adverse weather conditions.

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) reported that several flights have either been diverted or canceled as a result of poor visibility caused by continuous rainfall.

Pratap Babu Tiwari, the General Manager of TIA, explained that the primary cause for the disruptions was the limited visibility caused by the weather conditions.

He further revealed that an Air India flight originating from New Delhi was diverted to Banaras, while flights operated by Air China and Sichuan Airlines from China were compelled to return.

He also highlighted that various other international flights have been similarly affected.

The airport’s management conveyed that the airports in Pokhara and Surkhet are yet to resume operations from Kathmandu, and unfortunately, the Kathmandu-Tumlingtar air route had to be canceled.

In addition, TIA reported the cancellation of three Buddha Air flights on the Kathmandu-Pokhara route and one Buddha Air flight on the Kathmandu-Tumlingtar route.
