US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu arriving Nepal tomorrow

US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu is arriving Nepal on Friday. The United States Embassy in Kathmandu said that Lu is arriving in Kathmandu tomorrow. During his visit to Nepal, Lu is scheduled to meet the leaders of Nepal’s political parties and embassy staff.

SC orders to produce Secretary Raut in court within 24 hours

The Supreme Court has ordered the concerned authority to produce Communications Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, who was arrested in the Lalita Niwas land grab scam, before the court within 24 hours. A single bench of Judge Til Prasad Shrestha passed the order following the preliminary hearing on the writ petition filed by Usha Karki on behalf of Secretary Raut.

4.6 magnitude quake jolts Humla

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake occurred with the epicenter at Kalika in Humla district today morning. The quake took place at 11:17 am, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, Lainchaur in Kathmandu.

117 workers flying to Kuwait with work permits returned from TIA

A total of 117 workers with work permits who were scheduled to fly to Kuwait were returned from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. The Immigration Office at TIA deemed their visas suspicious, leading to their repatriation. On Wednesday evening, the Immigration Office returned 101 workers who were supposed to fly to Kuwait via Salam Air. Additionally, 16 workers who were set to travel through Kuwait Air on Thursday morning were also sent back.

CPN-UML calls Secretariat meeting

The CPN-UML has convened a meeting of its Secretariat to analyze recent political developments. Rajendra Gautam, the Head of the UML Publicity Department, stated that the meeting has been called for July 15 at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

KMC opens application for Grade XI scholarship

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has opened online application for the examination for Grade XI scholarship. The Department of Education under the KMC issued a notice today calling for applications for the examination to be conducted for the selection of students for scholarships for the academic session 2080/081 in institutional institutions within the metropolis.

RSP set to expand Central Committee for third time

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is making preparations for its third expansion of the Central Committee. According to party sources, the RSP intends to include several lawmakers in the Central Committee, although not all lawmakers will be appointed as members.

Besisahar-Chame road to remain closed for two days

The Besisahar-Chame road – the only road section linking hilly Lamjung district and mountainous Manang district – is to remain closed for two days from today. The Besisahar-Chame road project office shared that the road will remain closed from 10.00 am this morning (Thursday) through 5.00 pm (Friday) for the construction of two wooden bridges over the Timang power house rivulet and Syarku rivulet.

3,700 houses at high risk of monsoon-induced disaster

As many as 3,757 houses are at high risk of monsoon-induced disasters in Kavrepalanchowk this year. The monitoring and evaluation data shows that highest number of residents from Mandandeupur municipality are at high risk of natural disasters.

Lightning kills an adolescent in Gulmi

Lightning strike killed an adolescent girl aged around 15 in Gulmi. The deceased has been identified as Tika Baral of Musikot municipality-1, Neta Simle. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Office, Nabin Kishor Pradhan, Baral sustained injuries in a lightning strike that occurred on Wednesday evening.
