Socialist Front’s meeting hangs in uncertainty

KATHMANDU: The fate of the Socialist Front meeting hangs in uncertainty following the passing of Sita Dahal, advisor of the Maoist Centre.

Previously, the meeting had been scheduled to take place at the central office of Unified Socialist at 4:00 pm on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Front, consisting of four political parties, was set to discuss the current political landscape, preparations for province-specific programs, and a proposal drafted by a task force comprised of Dev Gurung, General Secretary of the Maoist Centre, Pramesh Hamal, a leader of Unified Socialist, Rajendra Shrestha from Janata Samajbadi, and Khadka Bahadur Bishwokarma from the Communist Party of Nepal.

The inaugural meeting of the Front, held on July 8, had decided to organize programs in each province aimed at raising public awareness about the “essence of its presence.”

The formation of the Front was officially announced on June 19, and it was agreed that the leadership of the Front would rotate among the four political parties.
