FNCCI: Second-round voting taking place to elect Senior Vice-President today



KATHMANDU: Second-round election is taking place today to elect the senior Vice-President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

The election is taking place again after no single candidate out of three—Ram Chandra Sanghai, Umesh Lal Shrestha and Anjan Shrestha- got 50 percent votes in the first round. Ram Chandra Sanghai is out from the first-phase election.

Umesh Lal and Anjan are in the race in the second phase.

Out of the weightage of the votes cast in district/municipality commodity and associate, Anjan got the highest 37.99 percent, Umesh Lal 31.51 percent and Ram Chandra 30.46 percent votes.

As per FNCCI’s statute, one should receive at least 50 percent vote to be elected as senior vice-president.

The election had taken place on Wednesday. The counting of votes for senior vice-president had concluded this morning.

As per the result, out of total 1,620 votes cast towards associate, Ram Chandra got 612, Anjan 573 and Umesh Lal 426 and eight votes were invalid.

Similarly, out of total 117 votes cast towards district/municipality, Anjan had received 47 votes while Ram Chandra and Umesh Lal got 39 and 28 votes respectively.

Three votes were invalid. Likewise, of total 123 votes cast towards commodity, Umesh Lal got 69 votes, Anjan 41 and Ram Chandra 12 while one vote was invalid.

The second-round election to the post of senior-vice president would be held today itself.

According to Chief Election Officer, Leelamani Poudel, said voting would take place from 2:00-5:00 pm today.
