President Paudel sworn in

Newly-elected President Ram Chandra Paudel has taken the oath of office and secrecy on Monday afternoon. The President’s office held a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas for the oath taking. Acting Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki administered the oath to Paudel in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

US government congratulates President Paudel

The government of the United States of America has congratulated Ram Chandra Paudel on his appointment as the new President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. “We would like to congratulate the newly elected Right Honourable President of Nepal Ram Chandra Paudel,” reads a statement issued by the US embassy here today, “The United States wishes him a successful tenure.”

Nepal beat PNG by 9 wickets, one win more to qualify for ICC World Cup

Nepal has won by 9 wickets against Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the final series of ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 undergoing in TU Cricket Ground Kirtipur, Kathmandu. This is Nepal’s record win against PNG. Nepal had never beaten PNG by such a wide wicket margin before.

8th century Buddha idols stolen

Two antique idols of Gautam Buddha were stolen from Chapagaun, Lalitpur on Sunday. Shreedhar Shrestha, a local, said the archeologically important Buddha idols of the 8th century were stolen last night. The idols were located nearby Moti Library at the Old Bus Park in Chapagaun.
