Indian Foreign Secretary Kwatra calls on PM Dahal

Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar on Monday. During the meeting, Nepal-India cooperation in energy, trade, connectivity, agriculture, education and culture sectors were discussed, according to PM Dahal’s Secretariat.

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Afreen arrives in Kathmandu

Diplomat Afreen Akhter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State (DAS) for the South and Central Asian Affairs Bureau arrived in Kathmandu on Monday. During DAS Akhter’s visit, she will meet with US’ Nepali partners at ICIMOD and Urja Nepal.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who is also the chairman of the Maoist Center, has said that his party would unite with like-minded parties to form a Socialist Front. Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas today. During the meeting, various matters of bilateral cooperation were discussed. On the occasion, President Bhandari said that Nepal and India have enjoyed socio-cultural relations since age-old times and highlighted various issues of bilateral relations, said Bhesraj Adhikari, the Chief Personal Secretary to the President.

Foreign Secretary of India Vinay Mohan Kwatra paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singha Durbar on Monday. In the meeting, they discussed on various topics related to bilateral cooperation. Minister Paudyal said they discussed topics as enhancing the development cooperation by further strengthening the bilateral ties. She added that they also talked on the new international air route for the Gautam Buddha and Pokhara International Airport.

Former King Gyanendra inaugurates UML leader Prasai’s “Hindu” campaign

Former King Gyanendra Shah on Monday inaugurated a campaign to establish Nepal a Hindu state spearheaded by CPN-UML central member Durga Prasai in Kakarvitta of Jhapa. Prasai, also the owner of B&C Hospital in Jhapa, has claimed of reinstating Nepal as a Hindu state.

Nepal sends 22 tons of relief material to earthquake-struck Turkey

The government of Nepal has sent the first batch of relief materials for earthquake victims in Turkey. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 22 tons of relief materials were sent to Turkey on Monday afternoon. Proposed dry port will be constructed as per a tri-national strategy: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today said the proposed dry port in Dodhara-Chandani Municipality in Kanchanpur district would be constructed as per the tri-national strategy. The project is expected to contribute to the economic development of the Sudurpaschim Province in particular and the entire nation, he said at an event organized here.

Earthquake felt in Taplejung

An earthquake occurred on Monday morning with Taplejung as its epicenter. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, an earthquake of 4.8 magnitude occurred at 4.30 am on Monday morning with its epicenter around Lelep and Olangchungola in Taplejung.
