Indian citizen with illegal possession of diamond nabbed



KATHMANDU: Sanjay Maiti, a 44-year-old Indian national residing in Kathmandu’s Sundhara area, was apprehended by the police on charges related to illegal possession of diamond amounting to NPR 3,27,339.

While conducting checks at a Tata Sumo (Number 15477) on the way from Birgunj to Kathmandu, the police noticed suspicious behavior from Sanjay traveling on the Sumo. Upon inspection, they found metal suspected to be unclaimed diamond like object, raising suspicions of illegal possession.

Following this discovery, the metal was sent for examination by the Gold and Silver Dealers Association, confirming it to be diamond.

Authorities have initiated necessary investigations into this matter.
