Former Minister Kirati and nine others arrested in Khotang

KHOTANG: Former Minister Gopal Kirati and nine other leaders were apprehended by the police, on Tuesday, over their alleged involvement in provoking actions against the ongoing campaign of the CPN-UML political party.

According to Koshi Province Chief DIG Rajesh Nath Bastola, these arrests were made in connection to the leaders’ purported inciting remarks against a political party’s campaign. This move by the authorities signals a firm stance against actions perceived as instigating unrest within the political landscape.

The discontented identity-seeking groups within Koshi Province have been actively advocating for the renaming of the province. Their demand emphasizes the reflection of the identities of the indigenous and aboriginal communities inhabiting the area.
