NA Chair expresses sorrow over passing of Nembang

KATHMANDU: National Assembly (NA) Chairperson, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, has said he is saddened by the demise of the Constituent Assembly Chair, former Speaker and CPN (UML) Vice Chairperson, Subash Chandra Nembang.

In a condolence message today, the NA Chair stated that with the passing of Nembang, the parliament lost an experienced and good member while the nation lost a political leader with dedication and integrity.

“The nation will forever remember his leading role as the Speaker in the reinstated parliament following the 2006 people’s movement, and as the chair of the first and second Constituent Assembly,” he said in the message.

The Upper House Chair remembered Nembang as a personality with skills in dispute management through wider dialogues among all parties, stating that such ability is exemplary for all.

Nembang succumbed to a heart attack at 1:40 am today while receiving treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj. He was 71.
