KATHMANDU: US Ambassador Dean Thompson, Public Affairs Chief Garrett Wilkerson, and Cultural Affairs Officer Sarah Knight welcomed the diverse batch of 55 members to the U.S. Mission family.

“Through various sessions, the new batch got an opportunity to learn more about U.S. public diplomacy programming, and the mutually beneficial relationship between the U.S. and Nepal,” a statement issued by the US Embassy in Kathmandu said.

Meanwhile, they also learned about social media’s role in amplifying social issues, and the roles and responsibilities of the USYC members in helping create a democratic, prosperous and inclusive Nepal.

Throughout their one-year tenure, the USYC members representing Nepal’s diverse social, religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds will work on projects to help support their local communities.
