President-elect Paudel to be sworn in tomorrow

Newly-elected President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to take oath of office and secrecy on Monday. The President’s office will hold a special ceremony for the oath on Monday at 1 pm. Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki will administer the oath to President Paudel.

Sindhuli bus accident death toll hits six

The death toll in the Sindhuli bus accident has reached six. The identity of all the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The dead included three males, two females, and one child. Five of them died on the spot, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Chiranjivi Dahal.

Govt has set economic improvement as its priority: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said economic improvement is the government’s priority. In his address to the 24th general assembly of the Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal here today, the Prime Minister said he from the very first meeting of his Cabinet decided to take serious steps towards improving the economy, adding that the incumbent government was committed to transforming current economic challenges to opportunities.

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that he is not in the race to become a minister. Mentioning that he is the General Secretary of the party and a Member of Parliament, he said that he will work for the party and put his issues in the Parliament.

EC confirms four vice-presidential candidacies

The Election Commission (EC) has confirmed the four candidacies for the election to the post of Vice- President scheduled for March 17. Since none of the candidates withdrew their candidature within the set time for withdrawal, the candidature of all four candidates is retained.

Newly-elected President Ram Chandra Paudel has renounced his affiliation with the Nepali Congress. A senior leader of the Nepali Congress, he was elected to the post of President on March 9.

Three Student Associations form alliance in FSU elections

Student organizations affiliated with the three major parties have formed an alliance for the upcoming Free Students’ Union (FSU) elections. Nepal Student Union, ANNFSU (Revolutionary) and ANNFSU have formed an alliance for the FSU elections to be held at Tribhuvan University, Mid-western University and Sudurpaschim University.

Remittance inflow increases by 27.1 percent in six months

The country has witnessed an inflow of remittance worth over Rs 689 billion in seven months of the current fiscal year, 2022/23. The remittance inflow is a 27.1 percent increment as compared to the previous fiscal year, according to details of seven months of the current FY made public here today by the Nepal Rastra Bank.
