Conspiracy being hatched against federalism: Minister Sharma

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications Rekha Sharma said conspiracies were being hatched against federalism.

Minister Sharma, also the government spokesperson, said it was saddening to note the expressions that federalism was an expensive and showy system.

Such expressions were sometimes articulated in the parliament and sometimes in the streets and by some important persons in public forums, the minister said, adding, “It was wrong to raise voice against federalism. Such voice should not emerge”.

She went on to say that it was wrong to go against the three-tier governments citing the reference to past mistakes.

“The operational process and rights have been well-scripted in the Constitution”, Minster Sharma said, stressing the need to effectively and efficiently deliver public services from the local governments in a way that people feel the presence of a new governance system.
