Sudurpaschim Province Assembly electing Speaker today



DHANGADHI: The Sudurpaschim Province Assembly is electing a new Speaker today.

Two candidates have filed nominations for the post of Speaker, the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly Secretariat said.

Bhim Bahadur Bhandari from the Maoist Center and Man Bahadur Rawal from the Nepali Congress are vying for the post of Speaker.

Maoist Center’s Bhandari is supported by 11 MPs from his party, 10 MPs from CPN-UML, 7 MPs from Nagarik Unmukti Party, and one MP from Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

Similarly, Rawal has been supported by the MPs of the Unified Samajwadi Party along with the party Nepali Congress.

In the 53-member provincial assembly, at least 27 votes must be obtained to get elected.
