KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has voiced serious concerns about purported conspiracies to mislead the public through the dissemination of misinformation across various channels.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Monday, PM Dahal emphasized the pivotal role of the media sector in combatting false narratives and ensuring the dissemination of accurate information.

Prime Minister Dahal highlighted the efforts of elements opposed to the federal democratic republic, alleging that they have been actively spreading unfounded and fanciful propaganda against the government and its leadership.

He urged the media to counteract these misleading narratives by providing precise and truthful information to the public.

Asserting his commitment to the nation, people, constitution, and democracy, Prime Minister Dahal expressed that the government’s pro-people initiatives had unnerved certain powers, leading to the propagation of unnecessary confusion.

PM Dahal also revealed that he became aware of the sale and purchase of shares of Ncell, a private sector telecommunication service provider, while attending a climate conference in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Promptly instructing relevant agencies to investigate the matter, he emphasized the need for a thorough examination of the truth surrounding the transaction.

“While in the UAE, I learned about the Ncell transaction and immediately instructed a detailed study,” he stated.

Prime Minister Dahal disclosed discussions within the alliance about the sensitivity and gravity of the Ncell transaction, describing it as unnatural.

Proposing a firm commitment to investigating the sale in the interest of the nation, people, and the country’s economy, he indicated unanimous agreement among the alliance members.

In a separate statement, Prime Minister Dahal affirmed the continuity of the current ruling coalition for the entire term.

He also reiterated his commitment to conducting a comprehensive review of the past year and developing a new strategy for the upcoming year.
