KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, who returned from the earthquake-affected area, submitted an 11-point suggestion to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

In a meeting held on Saturday, Thapa and Sharma shared their observations and recommendations after witnessing the ground realities in the affected districts of Jajarkot and Rukum West.

Among the key points highlighted in their letter is the urgent need for organized relief distribution.

They emphasized the necessity of completing the construction of temporary housing for all affected citizens by mid-December.

Additionally, the ministers proposed allocating funds to each affected family, ensuring a minimum of Rs 40,000 per family for a more effective recovery process.

As the temperature drops, they expressed concern for vulnerable populations, including maternity, children, elderly, and disabled citizens.

Their attention letter has stressed the critical importance of expediting efforts to construct temporary shelters, stating, “It is necessary to proceed with the work on a war footing to build temporary housing for everyone by the end of mid-December.”

Furthermore, Thapa and Sharma recommended the implementation of mobile health camps in affected settlements.

They highlighted the significance of such camps in providing essential healthcare services, especially catering to pregnant women, senior citizens, children, patients requiring regular medication, and citizens facing heightened health risks.

Thapa and Sharma urged a swift and comprehensive response to the challenges posed by the earthquake aftermath, emphasizing the immediate need for organized relief efforts, housing construction, and healthcare provisions to ensure the well-being of the affected population.
