KATHMANDU: In a noteworthy turn of events, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, along with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, set aside recent tensions surrounding Singha Durbar to foster goodwill.
Previously entangled in a dispute over a warning to set fire to Singha Darbar, Home Minister Shrestha and Mayor Shah extended an olive branch during a lunch meeting at the Mayor’s residence in Lazimpat.
This reconciliatory gesture was highlighted by Sabina, the Mayor’s wife, who expressed her happiness at hosting the Home Minister for lunch.
Sharing a picture from the event, Sabina conveyed a positive sentiment, signaling a possible thaw in the strained relations.
Minister Shrestha was received by the Mayor Shah couple at their official residence.
The invitation, strategically extended on the commencement of Tihar, aimed at rebuilding ties following the Mayor’s recent protest against traffic police actions involving his wife Sabina during a critical medical situation.
Balen’s secretariat confirmed that the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Balen’s residence was orchestrated on the auspicious day of Tihar, emphasizing a shared commitment to fostering unity and collaboration.
