Elephant found dead in Jhapa

JHAPA: An adult wild elephant was found dead at Kamaldham Simsar area at Rampokhari community forest at Bhadrapur municipality-2 in Jhapa district today.

According to Anjana Giri, Information Officer at the Division Forest Office, Jhapa, the tusker was spotted dead in the swamp of a wetland.

A team dispatched by the Forest Office has already reached the incident site while another team of elephant specialists from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve are on the way to the site, informed Giri.

It would only be ascertained whether the elephant died naturally or was killed only after the post-mortem examination conducted by the elephant specialist team, the Forest Office said.
