KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has taken a doctor into custody over accusations of acquiring a counterfeit educational certificate.
SP Navaraj Adhikari of the CIB confirmed the apprehension of Dr. Poonam Thapa Chaudhary from her residence in Kathmandu on Friday.
This development brings the total number of apprehended individuals to eight as part of ongoing efforts.
Notably, among those arrested was Nepali Congress lawmaker Sunil Sharma, representing Morang Constituency No. 3.
The list of detainees includes Dr. Ram Babu Yadav, Dr. Ranjit Yadav, Dr. Elina Shah, Dr. Amit Chaudhary, Dr. Shraddha Shilpakar, and Dr. Manit Chaudhary.
Under the banner of Operation Foxtrot Charlie, the CIB is actively engaged in a nationwide endeavor to identify and apprehend individuals within the medical profession suspected of holding fraudulent educational certificates.
