KATHMANDU: In connection to the gold smuggling case involving 100 kilograms of gold, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) apprehended two Chinese nationals.
The individuals, identified as Li Jialin and Lui Fuyan, were taken into custody at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The Department of Immigration promptly alerted CIB officials about the blacklisting status of the two Chinese nationals when they reached the airport.
The investigation team has determined that these individuals are linked to the detained Belgian citizen, Dawa Lama, who was apprehended on July 3 at Hotel Vienna in Thamel.
It has been revealed that Dawa Lama facilitated the Chinese nationals by providing them with vehicles registered under the hotel’s name.
These vehicles were utilized by various individuals, including the recently arrested Chinese nationals.
The Department of Revenue Investigation intercepted a shipment of 155 kilograms of ‘brake shoes,’ which concealed gold, originating from Hong Kong on July 19.
