Lumbini Province getting new Chief Minister today



DANG: Lumbini Province is getting a new Chief Minister today (Wednesday).

Province Chief Amik Sherchan has given time till four o’clock today to submit the claim for the Chief Minister along with the signatures of the majority of members according to sub-section (2) of Article 168 of the Constitution of Nepal.

With the support of Maoist Center and other parties, CPN-UML’s Parliamentary Party leader Lila Giri is scheduled to submit a claim as the Chief Minister.

Province Chief Sherchan will then appoint Giri as the Chief Minister.

Since none of the parties have a majority in Lumbini Province, Sherchan called for the appointment of the Chief Minister in accordance with sub-section (2) of Article 168 of the Constitution.

In the provincial assembly, CPN-UML has 29 seats, Maoist Center 9, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party 4 each, and Janamat Party and Janata Samajwadi Party 3 seats each.
