KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said the parliamentary democratic governance system based on pluralism would be consolidated only when human rights are respected, protected and promoted.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10 this year, he said no citizens would be deprived of human rights along with the reliable rule of law.

The Human Rights Day is observed across the world every year today in commemoration of the issuance of Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948.

Various programs are being organized today to observe the Day in Nepal.

The human rights day would be meaningful only if rights, freedom and justice of the deprived communities are ensured, he said.

He also stressed the need for taking initiatives in fully implementing the fundamental rights of citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal.
