Mayor Balen grants permission to play ‘deusi-bhailo’ in Kathmandu until 1 am

KATHMANDU; Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah has granted approval to play ‘deusi-bhailo’ within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City until 1 am.

Departing from the previous restriction that allowed ‘deusi-bhailo’ to be played only until 9 pm, Mayor Shah’s decision offers revelers more time to engage in the traditional festivities, fostering a safer and more joyous celebration.

Deusi-bhailo, a combined term for traditional folk songs, is a significant part of the Tihar festival in Nepal celebrated by Nepalis worldwide.

Both children and adults engage in the lively practice of deusi-bhailo, singing songs and dancing as they visit different households within their community.

During these visits, they collect money, sweets, and food while offering blessings for prosperity.
