55 Nepalis shifted to safer place, around 200 apply for home-return from Israel

KATHMANDU: 55 Nepalis in Israel have been transferred to a safe place.

According to Foreign Minister NP Saud, 32 students of Sudurpaschim University and 23 students of Agriculture and Forestry University who were taking shelter inside the bunker and sought transfer from there have been taken to a safe place.

“55 Nepali students have been transferred to a safe place with the help of the Israeli government,” said Minister Saud in the meeting of the International Relations Committee of the Parliament on Tuesday.

He informed the lawmakers that the government is taking initiatives to keep Nepalis who are at risk in other areas in a safe place.

According to him, more than 200 people have applied to return to the country.

There are 4,500 Nepali caregivers in Israel. 265 students were in Israel. 10 of these students were killed in a Hamas attack.

One hundred and nineteen students from Agriculture University, 97 students from Tribhuvan University, and 49 students from Sudurpaschim University went to Israel a month ago through the ‘Learn and Earn Program’.

Of the 49 students who attended Sudurpaschim University, 17 were from Kibbutz Alumim in southern Israel. 10 of these people were killed by Hamas attacks. According to the ministry, 2 people are safe, 4 injured people are undergoing treatment and 1 person is missing.

According to Minister Saud, the people who went as caregivers are safe.
