NC lawmaker MP Sunil Sharma arrested from Golfutar
Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Sunil Sharma has been arrested. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested him from his residence in Golfutar. The police did not disclose the reason why lawmaker Sharma, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Morang-3, was arrested for investigation.
CIB informs Parliament Secretariat about lawmaker Sharma’s arrest
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police has informed the Federal Parliament Secretariat about the arrest of Nepali Congress lawmaker Sunil Kumar Sharma. Parliament has to be informed when lawmakers are arrested.
PM Dahal signs performance agreement with 21 ministers
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and departmental ministers have signed a performance agreement in regard to the implementation of the policies and programs and the budget meant for the current fiscal year. The Prime Minister and departmental ministers of 21 ministries signed the agreement amidst a program at the Singha Durbar-based Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Saraswoti receives US GARC Award
US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, honoured social activist of Nepal, Saraswoti Nepali, with the Global Anti-Racism Champions (GARC) Award, 2023′. At a program organized at the United States Department of State, it was shared that the award was conferred on Saraswoti in recognition of her two-decade plus advocacy for the human rights of excluded groups, poor and people with disability in Nepal, reads a statement issued by the State Department.
Woman arrested with 28 tolas of gold in Pokhara
Authorities have taken a woman into custody after she was found in possession of 28 tolas of gold in Pokhara. According to DSP Bedh Prakash Joshi of Baidam, Kalpana Gurung, aged 45, was apprehended by the police at Pokhara Bus Park on Thursday morning.
Disaster affects 50 districts; death toll reaches 41
Since June 14 of this year, the monsoon season has brought about a disaster that has affected 50 districts across the country. The Home Ministry reported that, to date, the monsoon-induced disaster, encompassing floods and landslides, has led to the deaths of 41 individuals and the disappearance of 31 others.
Buddha Air flight to Bhairahawa diverted back to Kathmandu after experiencing issues
A Buddha Air flight heading to Bhairahawa from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has been returned to Kathmandu after experiencing technical issues. According to Buddha Airlines sources, flight 857 which took off from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa on Thursday was diverted to TIA on Thursday afternoon.
