Ban on screening Hindi movie “Adi Purush” should not be misconstrued as an action against India: Balen

KATHMANDU: Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has clarified that his decision to prohibit the screening of the Bollywood film “Adi Purush” in Kathmandu should not be interpreted as an anti-India measure.

In an interview with the Indian media outlet “Bhaskar Dainik,” Shah emphasized that the ban was specific to the city of Kathmandu and not applicable to the entire country.

He stated, “We did not impose a nationwide ban on the film. That is beyond our authority. Our decision solely pertains to banning the movie in Kathmandu.”

“I want to emphasize that the prohibition on screening the Hindi movie should not be misconstrued as an action against India,” he added during the interview.
