Rs 10 billion ’embezzled’ in stock exchange license distribution

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers claimed that there has been the corruption of more than Rs 10 billion in the distribution of stock exchange licenses.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, lawmaker Rajendra Bajgai alleged that there is a game of Rs. 9/10 billion in the distribution of stock exchange licenses.

“Why is there a need for another new stock exchange to replace the government-owned and continuously profitable Nepal Stock Exchange? I want to draw the attention of the government,” he said, claiming “There is at least a game of 9/10 billion in this.”

Lawmaker Bajgain raised a question as to why Nepali citizens are given only up to 1,500 US dollars when they travel abroad, whereas they allow businessmen to take 300 million rupees to Dubai and other countries for their children’s wedding feasts.
