NUP decides to field Chairperson Ranjita Chaudhary as vice-presidential candidate

KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has decided to forward party chairperson Ranjita Chaudhary as the vice presidential candidate for the election to take place on March 17.

NUP Chief whip Gangaram Chaudhary informed that the party meeting held today decided to make Ranjita a candidate for the post of Vice-President.

NUP’s candidacy is likely to trouble the newly formed left-democratic alliance of eight parties as Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has already announced its candidate.

Earlier, Nepali Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka informed this morning that there is no decision to give the Vice President to JSP.

JSP has already decided to nominate MP Ramsahay Yadav, who was elected from Bara 2, as the vice-presidential candidate.

According to sources, Upendra Yadav is preparing to contest the by-election from Bara-2.
