Maoist Center’s SC passes proposal to change party’s name, election symbol

KATHMANDU: Maoist Center’s Standing Committee (SC) has passed party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s proposal to change the party’s name and election symbol.

Chairman Prachanda had earlier proposed to change the party’s name and election symbol in the Standing Committee meeting held at the party office, Parisdanda earlier this week.

Prachanda said in his report, “We should start building a strong and orderly Communist party by taking into account the current public psychology, geo-political system and competition, while radically changing the structural methods and methodology, names and symbols.”

Before the elections, the Maoist Center had made an effort to form a Socialist Center by merging other parties.
