PM Dahal wins confidence vote

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda won a vote of confidence on Tuesday. PM Dahal got 268 votes – exceeding the 136 required – with two votes against him. Political parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Unified Socialist, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Aam Janata Party and two independent candidates gave the vote of confidence to Prime Minister Dahal. A total of 270 parliamentarians were present in today’s meeting.

PM vows to work on the basis of cooperation, mutual trust and confidence

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has expressed his confidence to ensure good governance, cooperation and mutual trust during his tenure. Seeking a vote of confidence at the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, PM Dahal said, “I stand to ask for a vote of confidence for social justice and good governance.”

HoR Speaker election scheduled for January 19

The election for the post of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been scheduled for coming January 19. Eldest member of the HoR Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana shared the information at the House session on Tuesday. He has designated general-secretary of the federal parliament secretariat, Bharat Raj Gautam, as the election officer for the election. As per the constitution, the election to the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker should be held within 15 days after the first meeting of the HoR.

Gandaki CM Adhikari to take vote of confidence on Jan 13

The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Khagaraj Adhikari, is taking the vote of confidence on January 13.  CPN-UML leader Khagaraj Adhikari was appointed Chief Minister on Monday with the support of 33 lawmakers including CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and independent candidate Rajiv Gurung ‘Deepak Manange’.

NC reschedules CWC meet for January 29

A meeting of the Nepali Congress central working committee has been rescheduled for 1:00 pm on January 29. Earlier, the meeting was scheduled to take place at 1:00 pm of January 12.

RPP to organize tea reception on Prithvi Jayanti

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal has decided to organize a tea reception on Poush 27 (Wednesday) on the occasion of the Prithvi Jayanti. It is the birthday of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal. The 301st birth anniversary and National Unity Day will be observed with tea reception.

Karnali Province Assembly to elect Speaker on Jan 15

The Karnali Province Assembly is to elect new Speaker on January 15.  The eldest member of the Assembly has fixed the date for electing the Speaker on January 15.  The date was determined as per Rule 7 (1) of Karnali Province Assembly Regulation, 2079.

Biratnagar defeats Janakpur to make place in Nepal T20 League final

Biratnagar Super Kings has made it to the finals of the Nepal T-20 League. In the match held in TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Tuesday, Biratnagar defeated Janakpur Royals by 39 runs and made place in the final.
