Govt’s commitments are tempting: Madhav Nepal

KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the vision and commitment reflected in the Common Minimum Program and policy priorities launched by the incumbent government on last Monday were worth reflecting over.

Partaking in the discussion on the proposal seeking a vote of confidence by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in the parliament today, Chairperson Nepal expressed his confidence that the incumbent government would be responsible towards its duties at the time when there was no sense of responsibility but only demand for rights.

Nepal, also former Prime Minister, said, “Corruption has remained a big problem in the country. If the corrupt ones were brought to book, it would be considered as a huge accomplishment for the country.”

He suggested the incumbent government to make the East-West Highway free of potholes, expedite the Kathmandu-Terai Madhesh Fast track, conserve the Chure area among others.

“Emphasis be laid on education and health while special attention be paid to change the working style, monitoring and implementation of the government’s priorities and programs,” Chairman Nepal said.

According to him, the vote of confidence automatically moved forward following the endorsement of the Nepali Congress that was in opposition.

Stating that the person they rooted for was elected the Prime Minister, Nepal reaffirmed his commitment to give vote of confidence to the incumbent government.

He spoke of the need to move ahead developing energy and tourism sector, reforming economy and modernizing agriculture.

In a different note, he advised the Prime Minister to be mindful about the fact that the constitution of Nepal does not grant an authority to the Prime Minister to dissolve the parliament.

He also called the attention of the incumbent government towards safeguarding the constitution, adherence to the laws and implementation of the federalism.
