KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council (JC) engaged in deliberation to appoint judges in the Supreme Court (SC).
According to a JC member, today’s discussions yielded positive outcomes, and a final decision is anticipated by tomorrow.
Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and the most senior judge, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, participated in the deliberations of the Judicial Council, conducting their discussions outside the courtroom.
Law Minister Dhanraj Gurung, along with Ram Prasad Bhandari and Ram Prasad Shrestha, were also present during the discussions.
A source stated that due to the discussions held today and the substantial progress made, a decision is likely to be reached by tomorrow.
The Supreme Court presently has 7 vacant judge positions, causing a shortage of one-third of the total seats, which has resulted in challenges for the smooth functioning of the justice system.
