Court orders submission of argument notes in Sandeep Lamichhane’s case

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has issued an order requiring both parties to submit argument notes in the rape case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.

Sandeep’s lawyer, Murari Sapkota, stated that Judge Keshav Prasad Ghimire’s bench instructed both legal teams to submit their arguments by December 8, with the next hearing scheduled for December 10.

Despite being presented for the final hearing eight months ago, the case has seen no progress as it passed through the hands of over a dozen judges in the district court. District court judges appear reluctant to deliver a verdict based on oral arguments.

Judge Ghimire seems to prefer written arguments over oral ones, potentially indicating a desire to resolve the case without further oral hearings. Previously, on April 5, he had dismissed this case.
