Birgunj Gold Cup: Nepal Police Club into final



BIRGUNJ: The Nepal Police Club (NPC) has entered into final of the First Birgunj Gold Cup, 2080 underway in Birgunj.

In the first semi-final held at Birgunj-based Adarshanagar Stadium, NPC reached the final defeating host, Veteran City Club Birgunj, 5-4 in tie-breaker.

The decision was taken through tie-breaker when the match ended up in goalless draw in the allotted time.

NPC goalkeeper Satrughna Chaudhary was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ in the tournament.

With this, the NPC will play the final with the winner of the second semi-final match to be held between Sankata Club Kathmandu and Tribhuvan Army Club on Thursday.

In the gold cup tournament, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Sankata Club, Church Boys United Nawalparasi, Jhapa FC, Birgunj Veteran City Club, Kolkatta Clive House Dumdum and Delhi’s AFCI North Zone football team are participating.

The title winner of the gold cup will receive a cash prize of Rs 1,111,111 along with trophy and certificate while the first runner-up will get Rs 555,555 with trophy and certificate.

Birgunj metropolitan city is the main host of the gold cup.
