PAC stresses on implementation of its directives

KATHMANDU: Public Account Committee (PAC), House of Representatives senior-most member Rajendra Kumar KC has said it is not only the negligence on the part of the government but also the contempt of the sovereign parliament not to implement the Committee’s decisions and recommendations.

A meeting of the Committee today stressed that it was the responsibility of the Committee to ensure the tax paid by people is fully utilized.

In the meeting, KC presented the draft report of the Committee’s international working procedure.

The Committee members demanded the Committee summon the ministers to the meeting and encourage them to implement the committee’s decisions.

They underlined the need of ending the trend of not implementing the committee recommendations given following the in-depth study and preparations.

Committee member Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai said it was the responsibility of the government to enforce the Committee recommendations and directives without any conditions while Deepak Giri said the meeting should be univocal that Committee’s study, research, decisions and directives should be based on rigorous preparations.

Committee senior member Arjun Narsingh KC stressed the need of appointing the Committee President soon.

He urged the Committee to deal with arrears issues effectively.
